The islands to be visited were named by explorers from Spain and Italy, mostly led by Christopher Columbus. They were financed by Queen Isabella of Spain whose goal was to spread Catholicism. She succeeded because among all 30 of the vibrant, populated Caribbean islands 10 are named after Catholic Saints. Plus ~ the Caribbean Census Bureau reports 40 million Catholics live in the Caribbean out of a total 44 million population.

Fun & Fitness exercise classes never compete with shore excursions. Morning water exercises happen in the ship's indoor heated Solarium pool with water at 86 degrees. Chair and land exercises are held elsewhere on the ship during the day. All classes are private for Fun & Fitness guests. A list of classes and where they're held on the ship is given out the first night at dinner when club members are seated together in the Formal Dining Hall at private tables. Feel free to mix and match among your tables to meet like-minded folks. They too like to exercise when they travel.
Private water exercises are held in the ship's indoor Solarium pool at 86 degrees. All Fun & Fitness cruises are EXCLUSIVE. But total cost of the cruise is exactly the opposite! It's ALL INCLUSIVE and even provides a $10000 travel insurance policy per person. Fun &Fitness cruise guests are booked with refundable deposits and have insured cruises. St. Patrick's Cathedral in Barbados holds a UNESCO World Status title because it symbolizes what glory can be done when Catholic Christians refuse to give up their faith.
In the 1600s English settlers brought over indentured slaves from Ireland to work in the sugar cane fields of Barbados. Still today Barbados sells the world sugarcane. After tourism it is the island's main source of income. The Church of England ruled over Barbados for 200 years forbidding Irish Catholics to pray together. They were not to be seen or heard. To hold mass they had to meet in secret in caves. But by 1848 there were enough Catholics living in Barbados to take over the Protestant Cathedral named St. Edward's. The Catholics re-named it St. Patrick's Cathedral on St. Patrick's Day in 1848.
The Protestants in Barbados were still too irritated by 'voo doo' Catholics, so they knowingly, willingingly and intentionally burned down to the ground the cathedral in 1897. When Rome learned of the devastating fire, done with deliberate intent, it sent over millions in money with educated manpower to rebuild St. Patrick's Cathedral in a spectacular way. The Catholic Cathedral opened again on St. Patrick's Day ~ in 1899 ~ reclaiming its name and displaying brilliant stained glass windows (shown above) inside a new powerful Gothic architecture. Rome added hand carved solid oak benches permitting 400 Catholics to kneel down and pray together every time at every mass on any Holy Day. Rome knew exactly how to show 'voo doo.'
St. Patrick's Cathedral today is a central gathering place for all people who live and visit Barbados. The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) granted it World Heritage Status in 1945. You can visit this famous Cathedral on St. Patrick's Day, 2027, when you take this cruise.

MaryBeth Dziubinski is the Fitness Cruise leader for this cruise. Today she lives in Southport, N.C., but was actually a founding member of theFun & FitnessTravelClub nearly 30 years ago when residing up North. MaryBeth today proves how best to live a long and healthy life. She and Fun & Fitnessbecame friends in 1998 as members of the Aquatic Education Association of America (AEA). It is the premier organization to train and certify water fitness instructors. MaryBeth's career in teaching water exercise is recognized worldwide. She holds the title as an AEA Global Aquatic Fitness Instructor.
Today MaryBeth is Active Aging Director at Cape Fear Fitness in Southport, NC, where she teaches aqua, cardio, strength, balance, and chair yoga classes weekly. She is a former trainer with SilverSneakers(R) and a NASM Senior Fitness Specialist with 30 years plus teaching both group water and land exercises. MaryBeth is a Registered Yoga Teacher who holds certifications with NASM, ACE, AFAA, and AEA. Fun & Fitness is honored to have MaryBeth lead another cruise.
